Some K-K engines have no keys to index the timer cam precisely so that the spark is triggered properly. My prewar K-K has a tapered prop shaft and drive washer/timer cam with a 9/32 in shaft but no way to lock the two in proper position. My postwar K-K has a 1/16 in. key and keyway in the 1/4 in. shaft and drive washer to assure their positions are correct.

Does anyone know the score on this situation? Also, does anyone have stationary points and insulators for these engines?

Jerry do you have both engines yet? You could use one to time the other . Did you see at the bottom of this index where a guy had a bunch of parts for these ,you might be able to chase them down . I reinstalled the ignition parts on one of these years ago for a collector that was emotionally attached to his engine & I was sweating blood when I finally got the cylinder un-screwed from the crank case. Came with a" pop " & I was almost afraid to look but all came out well . Hope you come out OK. MAX H.
