Spark plug repair?

Postby tag » Sat Apr 01, 2006 3:55 pm

Has anyone tried to repair a spark plug when the center electrode (wire) has come loose? What did you use and what was your procedure? I have several like this and with the price of new ones, they get expensive.

Thanks
Tom

Tom,
On older friend of mine said he would "repot" the center electrode using plaster of paris. Almost using it as an adhesive. Ive also heard of very pure CYA type glues being used as they handle high temperature well and have the same COE as the Insulator. Hope this gives you some ideas.

I used to seal and repair the cracked and broken porcelain portions with JB Weld. Never had a problem.

Hi Tom

I have had good success by using thin CA and wicking it into the plug from the top side. So far, no issues at all.
