Hi People,
I have delt with larger glow engines for many years and have had no problems to speak of. However, this is my first small(Magnum .15 XL
R/C) engine and I was wondering if someone could give me more pertinent info than what the instructions have. It's an ABC engine and break-in went really well with RPM's at full throttle with a 7-4(Recommended size) prop of 17.000 RPM, Mid range seems really well with good transition but the idle just seems really high of about 3800 to 4000 rpm for a reliable idle. The instructions call for an operating range of 3000 to 18,000 rpm. so at the top end I'm really pleased with it.
Is the idle on smaller engines such as this common to have that high an rpm. It's my first engine smaller than a .60 size and they normally can go alot lower. Would it also be because of the small size prop. (Master Airscrew F/G). Would a heavier prop nut help? If anyone out there has a similiar size engine please let me know if the idle rpm is normal to be that high. The engine runs really well and if I can get the idle down more I would really like it. Thank You in advance, Pipercub 6
