Prop size for older Magnum GP engine

Postby archie » Tue Jul 05, 2005 4:04 pm

I have an older, sleeve-bearing Magnum GP 44 engine and I would like to know the correct prop size for this engine. I already tried using an 11x6 prop and the engine overheated. Engine is on a Great Plains Trainer. Suggestions welcome! Thanks.

Since your engine is older and the fact the GP'S are not too strong anyway. I would say use a Master airscrew 10*5. You will find that the engine will like it and your transition will be great. That should work really well on the trainer. The goal is steady eddy not speed for a trainer.

If it were on sport plane I would try a 10*6.
