I've just bought a N.I.B. OS-FS-60 first series with the machined head and rockers and notice that there is a hole at the back of the cylinder about 3 fins up from the bottom. Can anyone tell me what this is for? Please help me put my mind at rest as I paid quite a lot of money for this engine.

I am not sure on the engine you have but several makes & models of engines have such a hole that is needed to remove the wrist pin before the connecting rod can be removed from the crankshaft . The sleeve is removed first .If the front & rear of your engine bolt on then that theory is out the window . Max H.
