older K&B engine

Postby Crash-N-Swim » Sat Dec 17, 2005 7:07 pm

I have an Older K&B engine 40. I need to replace the bearings in it and have no idea how old it is. How do I know what bearings to replace and which ones to order.

Crash:

Two possibilities. If you have the later 40 engine with the prop drive mounted on a centering cone the front bearing is an R6. if instead you have the earlier version with the pro0p rive pressed on the 1/4" nose of the crank shaft the front bearing is an R4. In either case therear bearing is an R8.

Hope this helps.

And sorry it took so long for a reply, I just joined this forum.

Bill.
