Alag 3 tuning

Anyone taken a Dremel to one these "mild timed" 2.5 diesels and improved the power. The shaft port seems rather minimalist! Would enlarging to open earlier, be the way to go? TIA; d-d

If you are sure it's timed late, then just open it a very little at a time only, otherwise you may mess it up.

Another 'good trick' is to raise the exhaust timing, by perhaps placing a fibre washer under the cylinder where it screws onto the case, or if your brave, grind about 5 to 10 thou, off the top of the cylinder to raise the exhaust.

Raising the exhaust, will add top end power, but too much will make it hard to start and a pig low down.

Everything justs a little at a time. Run it, and if it's good leave it, or 'add' a bit more if you feel it will benefit.

A good 'clean up' inside works wonders too, cleaning up and smoothing the passages in the cylinder---and fresh fuel of course. Good luck Don.
