i have a cox 0.49 surestart engine i was wondering if cox engine diesel plug could allow it to run on cooking oil. i mean diesel engine can run on cooking oil but can model diesel cox engine do the same thing.

I've seen model diesels use cooking oil as the lubricant, but no, can't say they would run on pure cooking oil alone.

Castor oil is by far the best proven lubricant mixed with ether and kerosene.

Model engines don't run on diesel fuel. They run on a mix of castor, kerosene and ether.

Cox never made a .49. Lots of .049s though.

Interestingly enough you can start a model diesel on conventional fuels warm them up and then switch them over to some other fuel. Kicker is that they all need ether added to continue the combustion. Most of the alternative fuels are really dirty running and inefficient. Sorry but there is really no inexpensive or efficient alternative to our conventional model diesel fuel.
