How to tell the actual mark number

Postby rrgriffon » Thu Feb 24, 2005 11:09 am

Hi, I'm about to buy a "second hand" FK-50 with spark ignition, and got uncertain what mark number it actually is.
The label on the camshaft housing says "Mark II", but everything else from box to all papers say "Mark I".
The serial number is 000257.
Would appreciate some advice how to determine the mark.

To be sure take off the timing cover and see it the cam gear is nylon or steel. Mark I is the only one that used a nylon gear.
