Super Tiger .35 Mods for SAM

Postby giffy » Mon Nov 22, 2004 8:33 pm

Anyone interested in talking about free flight performance mods for the ST G21-.35 for the SAM events?

Just trying to get something going on these dead boards.

Oi, this forum aint dead. It's one of the zippiest around, especially since it's been revamped with its own built in Star Spangled Banner!
As to hopping up G21/35's, I guess there's two approaches, a) what you might do to let the standard engine perform, and b) some real tuning. a) would be things like large venturi, pressure feed, bags of nitro. b) would encompass things like chroming the bore, lightening the piston, chroming the crankpin, setting up the races, adjusting the compression ratio to suit the fuel, etc. Not really different from C/L speed tuning. They are extremely pokey engines as they come.

One thing I have found is that the rear bearing cage will crumble if it is the standard steel type with the fold over tabs. It must be replaced with a plastic caged bearing or, the plastic cage out of a K&B 4011 rear bearing will fit the tiger bearing.

chroming of liners

To Rustler:

I found your remark about chroming of liners. Does the process involve grinding of the liner and then put on a chrome layer of suitable thickness.

Or do you just put on the chrome and then carefully hone to specifications?
