Catamaran Hull with 7.5 Outboard

Postby wgp2000 » Sun May 14, 2006 9:10 am

I'm considering buying one of the K&B 7.5cc Outboards to be used with a Catamaran Offshore style hull. I know the 7.5 outboard has been successfully used on the Dumas Skater Cat hull but the hull I'm considering using is a little bigger and weighs about 5 to 6lbs. Would this be too heavy for the 7.5cc .45 Outboard? I'm not looking to break any speed records and I don't really want to move up to the 11cc if I don't have to.

Thanks
Bill

The weight of 6 pounds isn't all that heavy, but if the wetted surface area of the boat is too large, you may have difficulty getting the boat up on plane, and once on plane, the large wetted surface will slow you down...
