You need to spin the outboard starter cone in a clockwise direction which is the opposite of how you'd start an airplane motor. Just reverse the leads on your starter.

thanks i thought it was starting backwards because as soon as it started and i gave it throttle it would die thanks again,

Inboards, looking at the flywheel end, spin ccw. Outboards spin the opposite.
