Wrist Pin Teflon Plug Orientation

Postby david brooks » Sun Mar 11, 2007 12:12 pm

Should the wrist pin teflon plug face the exhaust side on a webbed exhaust sleeve, or should it face away from it?

If it faces the exhaust side, it will be on the hot side, but allow the piston hole to lubricate the exhaust side better? Or if it is facing away from the exhaust side, it will remain cooler and score the liner less?

Yep, its the old version of the 3.5 inboard marine with exhaust throttle - so the answer would be front exhaust / front intake? It has a web going across the exhaust port, which would hold the wrist pin in if it was to be put in facing the port. The other side of the sleeve is also webbed, but those are the main intake ports. Its probably safer to aim it towards the intake ports, but I cant really be sure! I never gave it a thought to pay attention to it when I removed the assembly, now I'm lost....

Hi Dave face it to the intake side and cut out the bar in the exaust side for better exaust flow.
