SAME QUESTION ANOTHER WAY.....FUEL

Postby boz » Thu Apr 30, 2009 5:57 am

As you can see from my previous post I have some vintage 4-strokes, side valve british Vega's etc. I know they burn glow fuel but what I would like to know is what do you guys think would be the best mix and nitro content (if any nitro). Advice appreciated.

Boz

Check the isntruction sheets with your engines. They should recommend oil content. I hate to guess as it would be a shame to ruin an engine. If your engines are European I suspect they should run on 0 nitro. As far as oil goes I would guess 20% should be sufficient. I know regular 4 stroke fuel has less oil content than 2 stroke does. My 2 cents.

Thanks for your reply Frank. Unfortunately there are no information sheets with these engines.

boz,

There are a couple of good sites in the UK where you may find someone more familiar with your engines.

There's a lot of "rare and unusual engine" info on the Barton Model lfying Club site, for example:

http://www.controlline.org.uk/phpBB2/index.php

Just Engines has a manufacturers' site that may help.

http://www.justengines.unseen.org/

Ian Russell has been around our engines for a long time, and may have some thoughts on this, too. I don't have a URL for him at hand.

Luck! It would be a shame to harm your engines with a wrong fuel...

Thanks Lou, I'll post the same question on the Barton site.
