Hiness engines

Postby cashrc » Mon Aug 10, 2009 1:08 pm

Just wondering if anybody knows a thing or two about the Hiness engine range..I THINK they were made in the early seventies for Polk's Honbbies, but I'm not real sure..there's a bit on the Motor Boys site about the Hiness Arrow, an inline engine kinda like the Aero .35, and I've seen pics of a few multi's, but I'm curious about the singles..I happen to have come across one, it's a neat little .09, just don't know squat about them. Any infro much appreciated..
Thanks!!

Hiness .20

Postby cruzer37 » Tue Mar 02, 2010 3:43 pm

I have a Hiness .20 RC Double Ball Bearing Aircraft engine new in plastic package. It is all black except for the side of the head and the carb, and the word HINESS on the side of the crankcase, One intertesting feature is that the fins on the head are swept back from full height at the front to flush on the back.

Hiness .09

Postby kersplat » Sun Aug 22, 2010 9:41 am

I had a Hiness .09, really an .099. It was black and had a rear ball race on the crank and a bushing on the front of the crank journal. The piston and liner were similar to an Enya .09. The con rod was a 2024T3 aluminum alloy with a phospher bronze bushing on the lower end. The rod was pretty, it was turned on a lathe instead of machined flat on a mill.
