Looking for information on an engine

Postby deehoC » Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:11 pm

Hello members of MECOA. I'm hoping someone can provide a bit of information on this old engine I have.

I was able to find a little bit of info about it myself over at this website http://modelenginenews.org/cardfile/eta29.html

The serial number on the engine I have is 005468. According to the info on that site I think that means this engine is the 54th produced in 1968, and since the serial ends with 68 it apparently is part of the MK 6/6c series.

Would anyone happen to know what this engine might be worth?

I believe it hasn't been used once and is in very good condition from what I can tell.

Here are 3 pictures of the engine that I took the other day.

Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to read this.

It is an ETA29 as you say, and I would suggest it's a 6c, the last ETA29 built and sold.
I believe they were last built in the late '60s, but my brother in law whilst in the U.K. in 1972 was able to purchase for me a new one when he called into the factory.
I never used mine and swapped it for a DOOLING29 some years later.

ETAs were good engines and a new in the box one as yours looks to be may bring more than $150.00.

New in the box also means the instructions signed by Ken Bedford and two waterslide ETA decals in orange and black.

Very interesting, thanks for your informative reply Gossie. Unfortunately I don't have any box with it nor instructions/decals just the engine itself. Do you think it might still be worth something to a collector in the condition its in? I have no real knowledge about model airplanes. My father found this engine in a box of his and to his recollection that engine has never been started.

Thank you very much for replying to my post, I really do appreciate it.

Yes, of course it's worth something to someone.

May I ask what you have in mind for it? PM me if you prefer. :)
