Old 7.5 K&B outboard

Postby dudeholbrook » Fri Oct 28, 2011 7:04 am

I have two prather tunnels,on 3.5 on7.5, both are K&B outboards and have been stored for 25 years. The 3.5 I am going to set up for my grandson and the other for myself. Both need cleaned but are free and I think would run but I feel that I should check the bearings and gaskets. It has been a long time since I ran them and was wondering what to use in cleaning parts, bearings, ect. The locall hobby doesnt show any K&B engines or parts on there web site, and I couldnt find anything on the Tower Hobby site either. I know I need the lower unit haves for the 7.5 as I had a pipe on it and want to put it back stock. I see K&B doesnt have them either. The engine # is A0008070 as close as I could tell. I would appreciate any help. Thank you

Liberal use of WD-40 or even isopropyl alcohol should work fine to clean up the motors. I believe MECOA has the K&B parts listed on their web pages and I believe the part number for the lower halves is 51-8701. Seems to be sold out right now.
