Please help identify this engine

Postby swright87 » Fri Aug 09, 2013 9:04 am

Need some help identifying this engine. It was my wife's fathers boat who passed in 93' and I would like to see if I can get it running again. It won't let me upload pics but I can email them. Any help would be appreciated. All it says is KB on the sides and a casting number.

This is a K&B 7.5cc outboard motor.

Looks like what's left of a K&B 21 outboard. Might be a 7.5. hard to tell from the picture.

It is an earlier K & B 7.5 outboard. I have 2 of them. My first one is very early, no serial numbers. The 2nd is S/N A0020624. A later model. Between the 2, the head different, along with the front plate. Your engine is in between the 2 that I have. They both run great and I have spares left over from when I was racing. It loves high Nitro fuel. I used 60% and they are still running strong after 25 years. The key to keeping these engines running strong is to keep them clean and lubed. I never waited to get home to disassemble after a race. I did it after I completed my heats. Sometimes the races were in salt water.
Your engine is in bad shape externally, but can be cleaned up, although all the bearings will probably need replacing. Need anymore info just ask.
