3.5 outboard

Postby dfritchley » Sun Feb 27, 2005 12:08 pm

hi,
I have purchased a 3.5 K&B outboard on e-bay seems to be mostly complete except the carb is not complete (no needle valve)pretty sure nothing else is missing. Also the opening in barrel is not perfectly round, not sure if this is the way barrel should look or if it is just worn or been modified. When Barrel is complety close there is no opening to be seen at full open notch seem to disapear. Compression seems to be really good. The serial number is 10704, Black K&B carb is mounted on the 3.5 now. 2 Questions.
1. what carb would be best for this engine.
2> should I just replace the needle Valve.

The best carb is the gold one PN 80-8902

The barrels have a notch on the bore so at idle the small notch is open ar the top. This should be correct on your carb as the black carbs had a barrel stop screw to locate the barrel.
