KB7.5 ob Won't start at all?

Postby Nickb » Fri Apr 15, 2005 10:21 am

My son has given me a boat with a KB 7.5 ob with water cooled head. He said, he only put about an hour on the motor and was running fine. Sat for a couple of years. I've put new fuel tank, fuel lines(no air leaks), fresh fuel 25%, new glow plug. But I can't get it to even begin to start. Motor is turning clockwise. Pulled glow plug and fuel sprays out, when turning over, glow plug glows. Set needle at 3 1/2 turns. MY son and I can't figure it out. Anyone have any ideas?

You could be getting too much fuel. First be sure the needle closes off by trying to blow thru the fuel line with the needle closed. Then try spinning the engine without the fuel line connected and the glow plug out. When you don't see any fuel spray out the plug hole install the glow plug, be sure the battery makes it glow a bright orange, and try starting with the needle only 2 turns out. You should get an occasional pop. Slowly open the needle as you are trying to start it and it should start. Read this too..
