K&B 3.5 inboard

I purchased a piston and sleeve from MECOA p/n 33-8902 for my K&B 3.5 inboard after installing it in the motor when I try to turn it over when the piston trys to get to tdc it locks up and will not go any further after taking the head off and turning it over it pushes the sleeve completely out of the motor. Why is this happing could it be wrong piston and sleeve package.. The motor p/n is 15116
