Veco 19 Thrust Washer Removal

I have an older bb Veco 19 and am trying to change the bearings but nothing will work to remove the thrust washer. This is the one that has the split ring in the washer, not the keyed version. Any ideas?

I use a special set of split plates that I made to work on Nelson engines. It's a piece of 1/4" plate steel with a stepped hole in the middle that fits the groove on the drive washer. The plate is cut in half and is supported on blocks in the hyd press.
