K&B 40 Throttle range

Postby JSRagman » Thu Dec 15, 2005 5:49 am

I have an older K&B 40 with the large square carb that seems to achieve its full RPM at half throttle on the carb beyond half there is very little change in engine performance. I have tried props from 9X6, 10X6, 11X4.5 seems to be same on all props. I recieved this engine new in box and broke in per instructions.

That is fairly typical on this engine and is nothing to be worried about. 10x6 or 11x5 are good props.

Nebie, starting problems

Postby gatedude1 » Wed Jan 11, 2006 6:40 pm

Earlier lasst year I bought my first used r/c boat,Prather Lap Cat with the 7.5 watercooled engine. I bought it from a fellow who had it for five years.I cannot tell which model it is but it looks very similar to the 7510. Im into nitro on buggies so Im not to sure about this engine. The throttle linkage was disconnected and I put a new cable in it and adjusted it so the is a slot on top for the idle. I assume I have this correct. went to start and it wont start at all Can see the fuel going to the carb on the side but none is getting into the carb. Pulled the glow plug and cranked it several times and there is no fuel getting to the piston at all. Put a couple of drops into carb and it still wont start. Please help!!! Thanks Doug P S The engine hase very goo d compression.

Postby gatedude1 » Thu Jan 12, 2006 3:06 pm

I checked and the spray bar is pointed down into the engine and the linkage shuts clockwise. Should the barrell be completely shut or partially open , like this ( ? :|
