Dazed and confused

Postby Taxman32 » Thu Feb 09, 2006 3:25 pm

We have disassembled both engines(model 9181 7.5cc) and have decided we need new connecting rods and bearings and of course gaskets. I found the part # for the con rod 16-8702 and checked for availability and saw another listing for 16-8701 our old con rod is flat not tubular is that the 16-8701? Will either fit as long as the pin diameter is correct?

What is the difference in the bearings one set simply says 15mm and 17mm and the others have 3 different measurements.
We would appreciate any help!

yes the 16-8701 will replace the flat rod

As for the bearing, I assumed you had outboard engines. The inboards, if rear induction (carb opposite of crankshaft) all use the same bearings.

I don't know what you mean by 3 measurments..

bearings are measured by the ID, OD, and width. It is obvious which dimension is what as the ID has to be smaller than the OD and the width is the smallest.

See this page, maybe it will help...

http://www.mecoa.com/acc/bearings/bearings.htm

and this page indicates all the 7.5 bearings

note ther are inboards (IB) outboards (OB) ducted fan (DF) & aero

here is the exploded view of the inboard

Hope this clears it up.
