K&B .45 inboard parts compatibility

Postby fast rigger » Fri May 04, 2007 8:35 am

I'm trying to resurrect an old inboard marine engine, part no.:9080. Will the cylinder sleeve and piston from part no.:9181 fit .I know there are two diffrent crank pin diameters to look out for. Also can the disc valve and rear housing be replaced with the newer drum versions? This way I could get rid of the exhaust throttle and use a carb. Any reply will be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Andy

Piston and sleeve will fit.

Drum valve can be fitted but the inside of the crankcase need to be relieved for a fuel/air passage as the drum valve flows the mixture on a 45 degree angle upward, not straight into the rear of the crankshaft like the disk valve.

This can be done with a dremal tool. You need to match the passage on the new drum valve. I really need to put some pics of this in the FAQ section. Keep checking there.
