K&B .20 Sportster / Crankshaft

Postby USMC » Mon Nov 19, 2007 11:25 pm

I have a K&B .20 Sportster, when I pull on the front of the crankshaft it clicks & has a little bit of play.
I can also push on the crankshaft and while turing I heard a grinding noise coming from the rear back plate.

does this mean I need a new crankshaft ?, or do I need a new crank case?

or should I relpace both?

Thanks,
USMC & Viking...! :)

There is a steel shim behind the prop driver. It is there to prevent aluminum to aluminum contact when using an electric starter. If it was not there the front of the crankcase and prop drive will wear. It's sounds like this is your problem. Probably only the crankcase needs to be repaired.
