Help with a 3.5 KB engine

I have a engine the is marked K/B on one side and 3.5 on the other. The only other numbers on the case is 03316 im not real sure how old the engine is. It has a exhaust baffle with the sliding plate. I was wonder if you can change out the carb with the gold card #80-8902. If i can change to that carb what do you do with the exhaust baffle. Also if you could tell me any other upgrades i can do to the engine to make it stronger.

Yes you can put this carb on it and all you need to do is leave the exhaust baffle wide open.
