K&B .61 ring gap showing through exhaust port

I just bought a new in the box .61 model 6550. Serial #D82699. There is a ring gap clearly showing through one of the square exhaust ports. Is this OK or is it broken? I thought it would have an indexing pin to keep the ring in place. I would just like to be sure before I run it. Thanks!

The ring gap can be anywhere on this engine. Nothing to worry about.
