Sportster .20 Piston hits Head

Postby rainedave » Fri Nov 28, 2008 4:42 pm

Hi, I have a NIB Sportster .20 and the piston hits the head. There is no place to add a shim under the head, so I installed a gasket between the case and the cylinder. This fixed the problem, but doesn't seem like the best fix since it alters the timing.

Was this a common problem with these engines? What is the best way to fix it?

Thanks,
David

Where did you get this? It probably has a .28 crankcase and .20 piston cylinder. The .28 crankcase was shorter. I have brass shims for this.

Thanks. The mounting lug has A3920 stamped on it. This is also written in magic marker on the box. The address on the box is Lake Havasu City, AZ, so I assume that's where it was manufactured.

How can I order the shims?

Thanks,
David
