Fitting a marine flywheel to a K & B SR II

Postby mart101 » Fri Feb 13, 2009 3:36 am

I would like to fit an OS vrm flywheel to this engine however as I noticed on disassembling the prop drive washer and split pin, that the crank shaft
has no shoulder with thread on and rely's upon a piece of stud screwed into the prop driver to secure the prop.
There is a small shoulder to center the prop on the prop driver but not enough to get a good location with a flywheel with a split collar.
Is there an earlier version of this crankshaft with a conventional ground shoulder and threaded stud available that I can mount a flywheel on ?
Thanks

I am a little lost with your question. Which engine is the the .40?

It was the only engine that had a stud screwed into the prop drive. If it is, that is the only crank.

yes, its the 6.5cc.
I am now thinking of turning up an adptor, how concentric is the prop driver shoulder to the crankshaft. ?
I am just concernerd if it runs out there will be quite a lot of vibration when the fly wheel is fitted and spinning around at 20K rpm.!
Thanks again,
Martin
