K&B Outboard Prop Shaft Size?

Postby fishinghole » Mon Jun 22, 2009 7:19 pm

Could someone tell me the correct mini open end wrench sizes that fit both the 3.5 & 7.5 outboard prop shaft hubs to remove? Thanks!

for the 3.5 you will need a flat or thin 5/16 open end wrench, this is for the prop shaft that screws into the lower half. facing the prop from the rear turn clockwise to remove.

the prop nut takes a 1/4 inch socket.

I dont have a 7.5 engine.

do not try to unscrew the prop shaft assembly all the way, just make it back off the lower end a bit. this will make it easy to separate the halves apart.

Do any of you have a sourse for thin open end wrenches? Can't find them anywhere around here. Thanks!

check with Sears or a Auto parts Store,
the ones that I am using are the cheap Taiwan ones,
that come in a small plastic vinyl case.

if you cant find, I do have a 7/16 and,
a 21/64 (just a bit larger than the 15/16 but not by much, and should work for you.)
