I need to replace the bearings and have the entire engine disasembled except for the crankshaft. I don't know how to remove the flywheel from the crankshaft? I've tried heating it and taping the crankshaft with a hammer - doesn't budge. Is it tapered set or does it screw off somehow. Please help.
Model 8912 is a predecessor to 8916...i would suspect the removal is similar?

Figured it out. If anyone is having problems w this, here is how i did it...
- heat the flywheel w a blow torch - do not heat the entire engine assembly. The aluminum flywheel will expand around the steel crankshaft
- stick wood dowling thru the carb intake, sliding it through the crankshaft opening...this will fix the crankshaft in position
- use the reverse side of an appropriately sized drill bit by sticking it into the hole in the flywheel.
- apply force to the drill bit
- the flywheel should losen and come free of the collet
