need muffler for old (new) K&B 40

Postby Kcsuperstar » Wed Aug 15, 2012 11:33 am

K&B .40 from mid 70’s. No numbers on it anywhere except K&B in oval and 40 molded underneath on left side. No idea of model number, type of engine, etc.

It was purchased way back when and just now getting around to using it. The model it is to go into requires upside down mount.

From the pics it would appear the slim-line muffler is installed upside down -- it is! Right side up installation puts the exhaust flow directly on lead edge of wing, upside down is ok, but the tank pressure fitting is in front.

Attached a picture of one kind of muffler I prefer to fit this .40, although any type that would attach to this engine and route out and below the wing would be fine. Can’t find one as I do not have the engine model number OR even know if one is/has been made for it. This engine does NOT have bolt holes thru the case and uses wrap around strap (illustrated) to attach the slim-line. Any suggestions, or will I have to ‘make due’ with what I have?
ok... cant figure out how to add pic/s... hope above description works.
