Can I buy a "ported piston and liner set" for my M

Postby Radioman » Wed Jan 16, 2013 3:26 pm

Good day all. I read with interest the earlier post on trying to get the MECOA 46 marine to come on pipe. I'm a very happy owner too of the MECOA 46 marine with pull start and do not want to change it for a differnt make "hot" engine as I like the convenience of pull start side exhaust and front induction.

I have never done any engine modding and would like to buy a properly ported piston sleeve set as I don't want to ruin a perfectly good engine with my lack of skill. Can MECOA sell me a ported piston and liner set?? Thank You!

You can do it with a dremel tool. Just the top side of the exhaust port needs to be raised .03" -- Not the sides or the bottom, just the top.

Not hard to do.

Thank you for the advice. I will give it a go , it does seem to need quite "exact" engineering skill though. .03 inches is 0.76mm which I guess I could measure using a spark plug gap gauge to make sure I get it exact. I would think quite a few people might be interested in buying a ready ported liner.
