HP .61 Gold Cup

Postby ctoms » Sat Oct 01, 2005 11:16 pm

I have a new in the box .61 GC with the rotary carb with the large disc idle screw.

I am looking for a starting point for the needle valves because the small(high speed?) needle was removed by prev owner.

I also would like someone to explain the big disc(idle?). Does it only rotate in place and not go in and out? There is a notch cut into it, what is that for? I turned it in and out several times with no movement in and out that I could see. This would mean the manual is hard to understand because the starting point is 2 1/2 turns out for the idle valve. This is why I am asking the question.

I am also wondering about the small needle valve or the high. The manual says 4 turns out but that would cause one of the O-rings to be exposed.

I seem to think I have the wrong manual for this carb and need to understand this carb.

Thanks
Charlie

The large disk is a mixture disk. The notch should be pointed directly at the intake. This only requires about 5 degrees of movement to adjust. The adjustment is very simular to this.

The amount of turns out for the high speed needle is just a starting point. This will be a rich setting.
