I was given a 25-year-old partially completed helicopter kit (a Schlueter Heli-boy) including a brand new still-in-the-box Hirtenberger Gold Cup 61F-RC which is missing its carb. I know next to nothing about RC flying, but I'm an engineer at Boeing, so I hope I can figure it out as necessary and get this thing in the air. On the phone I asked Angie to hold up on ordering a slide carb when I became concerned that there may be other hardware I should include as well. She mentioned a 'heli head'.
(1) If I need a heli head, what does it buy me? Can I live without it?
(2) I'd be grateful for any recommendations for other required parts, if there are O-rings or linkages or other piece parts I'm going to wish I had.
(3) The pile of parts I received also included a large silver ball-shaped muffler that looks like it's made to bolt on, but there are no bolt holes in this matte black engine. Can I just drill holes in the engine housing or do I have the wrong muffler?
(4) Have you got a glow plug to fit this thing?
(5) Do I need to run the engine on a bench or at idle to season it or break it in?
(6) What fuel should I be thinking about for this engine?
Any other advice or recommendations would be appreciated.
