Is my 21VT powerfull enough

Postby BayNavigator » Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:51 pm

I've just bought a new, unrun 21VT. I was going to install it in my Junior 60, but the guy in the local model shop is telling me it won't be powerfull enough. (He's trying to sell me a SC30).
Has anyone flown a Junior 60 with this engine? It's the same as the Ben Buckle model but built 31 years ago from an original Keil Kraft kit.
It previously flew with a PAW 19 Diesel and was covered with doped nylon. It's covered with solartex now, and a bit lighter, fitted with 3 channel radio.
I just want to have a relaxing fly around the sky on calm days.
Any thoughts?

If a PAW .19 flew it the HP will do fine.

Be sure to use the correct fuel and glow plug.

Postby triax01 » Sat Jul 12, 2008 10:35 am

hi all:
just asking for some ideas. i am building a hawk hydroplane outrigger inboard, the engine for this is a .21. i have a gold cup hp .61 size inboard engine,,,,,would it be possible to use this engine in this size of boat or will it be too much of a power house for this size of a hull?

Too much motor for that size rigger. Best to stick with a .21 in my opinion.

Well, I can answer the question myself now. I finally got chance to fly the aeroplane on a beautiful day last week.
It took of with no problems and I flew for 33 minutes, plenty of power for the Junior 60. The VT21 was much admired by my fellow flyers.
