VT21 USA... is this more powerful than the Austrian version?

Postby Rusty-Gunn » Tue May 03, 2011 2:09 pm

I've read a few posts at rc universe that claim the USA made version of the VT21 is more powerful than the Austrian version due to the new ones "breating" better. Is this true?
If yes, what criteria was used to determine the difference in power?
Thank you.

Yes a given rpm with the same size prop running on both versions.

"Breating" is supposed to say breathing. I read either at RC Groups, or RC Unuverse, where some one mentioned the USA made engines "breathe" better, thus offer more power. So, I thought I'd ask if this was true, and how this was determined (what was done to improve the engine).
Can parts be purchsed from Meoca that would allow an Austrian made engine perform simular to the newer US made ones? Thank you.

You would have to buy the crankcase/valve assembly. The valve port is a litle different.

All parts do interchange but the valve and crankcase are matched.

Interesting, I’ve got an old Austrian VT 21 with scored piston/liner and bad crankshaft bearings.
So it would be possible to rebuild this engine using new US made crankcase assy, piston and ring in combination with Austrian lower end parts (crankshaft, connection rod, bevel gear) and valve cover?
I see there are two different front bearings in the parts list, which one should I use?

Yes all parts interchange between the US and Austrian versions.
