HB 61 info

Postby roy » Mon Nov 20, 2006 8:55 am

Help. I am currently restoring a 1/4 scale model hot air airship which was built by Thunder Balloons in 1978.
It has been on loan to a Museum but on return to me all the motors and burner assembly were missing.
The propulsion motor was an HB 61 and I need to know the weight and the power output of this motor in order to replace it,if feasable by an electric equivalent.
Can anybody please help me?

Many thanks for your help.

1.45 hp equates to around 1100 watts, which is a very large electric.

Maybe I`ll have to rethink. K-L Busmeyer from Gefa-Flug Airships in Germany suggests that I need around 250 watts which is a big difference.

He is getting his secretary to send me a copy of his 1982 book on Radio Controlled Airships and Balloons. I`ll read that and see what it offers. K-L now builds full-size ships-46 in total to date.
