What are the 4 holes for on the bottom of the lower end, 2 on each side of the unit where the prop shaft is by the propeller? should you be able to see the flex shaft thru these holes. thanks

Those allow water in to cool the shaft. You should not see the flex shaft thru those holes

Thanks. the holes closer to the propeller are ok but the others I can clearly see the flex shaft. Is there some sort of seal that I need to replace to correct this? Thanks again

I stand corrected, if you do look close you can see the flex shaft in the forward holes. No seal. You must keep the flex shaft lubed with water proof grease.
